An Even Start to the Season for the 2's

2's Look to Revive Aspirations for a Promotion

“You aren't defeated when you lose. You are defeated when you quit. ” Paulo Coelho

The first game of the season was an attestation to the strengths of the 2's; a strong bowling line up limiting the opposition to a mere 78 in 40 overs; which was easily overhauled for a 5 wicket win in the 28th over against Preston Village in an away game.

A superb bowling effort spearheaded by Gaurav, Talha, Syed, and Ravi and a batting performance guided by Dhanesh and Ravi again saw the 2's to a winning start without breaking a sweat in the nippy 14 Celsius weather, in a game seeing the return of David Black to his superman-ish wicketkeeping ways, retirement be damned!

The second game was a grim reminder of not being complacent and over confident as Peebles easily overhauled the target of 199 set for them in the 33rd over with A Maxwell scoring an unbeaten century. A combination of fielding errors combined by over zealous bowlers serving up erroneous lines and lengths meant that a competitive total of 198 was not nearly enough on what was a batsman's paradise of a pitch at home at Newfield.

However after shaking off the loss and refocusing on method over madness, and on measured aggression rather than overconfidence, the 2's take aim on their original goal - a promotion to division 4. It will require execution of plans, a concerted effort of a team clear in it's roles and self belief which does not cross over into the realm of overconfidence.

Doable? Very much so.
